BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN

After a prolonged hiatus, I'm back! No matter how many times I walk away from blogging it eventually draws me back in. There's just something cathartic about having a space to share life's moments (both big and small) in long form. I sometimes get caught up in comparing my life to others, or get down on myself for not doing enough, being enough. I've decided none of that matters. What matters is that when I do have something to share there's a place I can do it. Judgement be damned.

Am I alone in using blogging as therapy? Definitely not. Will it always come easy? It never has, so I'm not holding my breath. Am I back for good? Only time will tell. What's next? I sing a horribly off-key version of I'm back in the saddle again... -b.

THE LUDLOW HOTEL

Back in January (!!) I had the opportunity to art direct my first marketing campaign for BHLDN. One of the most rewarding experiences of my career thus far, I was immensely proud of the results (see more here). I've often been asked what it means to "art direct" something and my answer to this is that they should imagine every aspect of a photo shoot from conception to completion and that it was my job to see it through every step of the way.

For the location, we decided to rent the Penthouse in the Ludlow Hotel. A small perk of this decision is that I actually got to stay in the Penthouse the night before the shoot! The next morning I snapped this short series of images to commemorate such a momentous occasion in my life. Let's get real, it's not every day I get to stay in such a lavish place.

My favorite part of the stay was without a doubt, the extra-deep bathtub. Talk about a luxe bath, I soaked in the hot water for at least an hour before emerging a new woman. To complete your picture of over indulgence, I'll leave you with an image of some of the dress styles from the shoot. Note: these are not my clothes (wink). - b.

SPRING'S RENEWAL

And so, once again we begin a new chapter in our lives. It is a time of renewal, rebirth, and resurrection and I embrace these re- with arms wide open. Now more than ever I look forward to spring's cleansing abilities for both mind and body.

I lost someone dear and irreplaceable to me this winter, and his loss has left a hole in my family's hearts that will never fully close. I have only our shared memories to hold onto and pieces of his spirit to carry with me. Perhaps in time I will be able to articulate how very unique and special my Grandpa was, but today my eyes only well up with tears, and my voice catches in my throat at the very mention of his name.

This change in season is very needed. I know I'm not alone in that feeling. So how should the chapter begin? - b.
